Unattended 1-Y-O drowns in Berbice

The Child Care and Protection Agency and the Guyana Police Force are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a toddler at No. 52 Village Corentyne Berbice.
Dead is 1 year old Bryston Akrie whose timey body was fished from a canal in his community on Monday.
BIG Smith Crime Watch was told the drowning reportedly took place at 16:00hrs, hours after the child’s mother and other relatives and friends left jim unattended and were consuming alcohol.
27 year old Patricia Devi said about 16:15hrs she noticed that her child was not around and she alerted person close by who began searching for him.
She added that minutes later her worst fears were met as she discovered the lifeless body of the child laying in the canal behind their home.
The toddler was fished out of the canal and rushed to the Skeldon Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Giving the circumstances surrounding the incident, contact was made with the commander of B Division Paul Langevine to enquirer whether anyone has been arrested in connection with the incident and he responded in the negative.
He noted that investigations are ongoing
