Two Dead, Several Injured in Soesdyke Highway Crash

May 19, 2025 – Guyana: A tragic accident in the early hours of Monday morning has left two men dead and several others injured following a collision between a motor car and a minibus along the Soesdyke-Linden Highway, near Adventure.
According to a police report, the fatal crash occurred around 5:10 AM and involved motor car #PLL 6554, driven by Kowmalram Ramin, a 40-year-old resident of West Coast Berbice, and carrying Fitzgerald Authur Carter, a 29-year-old from Rosignol, West Berbice. Both men lost their lives in the accident.
The other vehicle involved was minibus #BAE 1526, owned and driven by Immanuel Dorris, 32, of Central Amelia’s Ward, Mackenzie, Linden. The minibus was transporting several passengers at the time of the collision.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the minibus was traveling north along the highway while the car was heading in the opposite direction.
According to the minibus driver, the car appeared to be approaching at a high speed. Upon reaching a section of the highway that was under construction, the car reportedly lost control, began skidding, and veered into the path of the oncoming minibus.
Despite attempts to brake, the minibus driver was unable to avoid the collision. Both vehicles sustained significant damage.
All occupants of the car and minibus sustained injuries. Public-spirited citizens assisted in transporting the injured minibus passengers and driver to the Linden Hospital Complex, where they were examined by medical personnel and admitted for observation.
The driver and passenger of the car were extricated from the wreckage by police and also taken to the Linden Hospital Complex. However, both were pronounced dead on arrival.
Their bodies were later transferred to the hospital mortuary, where they await post-mortem examinations.
Police investigations into the accident are ongoing.
