Popular TikTok personality Reshie Mangal, widely known online as “TikTok Uncle,” was arrested by police on Wednesday evening and released on $100,000 bail on Thursday morning.

News of Mangal’s arrest sparked outrage among his supporters, particularly after a video posted by entertainer ‘Elsa Lisa’ circulated on social media.

In the video, members of Mangal’s fan base called for his release, citing his willingness to cooperate with authorities and noting that he posed no threat or showed any signs of violent behavior.

It is unclear whether this arrest stemmed from a recent notice issued by the Ethnic Relations Commission (ERC), which listed Mangal as a person of interest and requested that he make contact with the agency.

The specific reasons the ERC is seeking Mangal remain unclear at this time.

In its notice, the ERC stated that after three or more unsuccessful attempts to contact the individuals named, it was compelled to issue a public advisory.

The Commission reiterated its call for Reshie Mangal, Tyrese Algernon, and Orlando Xavier Ferreira to urgently contact the ERC to address matters currently before the body.
