Three women were crushed to death and a baby and four others injured on Thursday, September 28, at Jawalla, Region Seven, by a massive tree that was uprooted during a storm.

Police identified the dead as Celeste Albert, 34; Selina Hope, 69; and Godfrena Fredericks, 25.

Injured are Ramesh Michael, 23, who suffered a fractured skull; Teddy Richmond, 33, who received injuries to his chest and abdomen; one-year-old Shanvio Hunter, who suffered injuries to his arm and leg; and Lamona Hunter, 30, who sustained fractured legs and hands.

Police stated that several trees were uprooted during the storm, which occurred at around 15.00 hrs.

Ten persons were at a farming camp owned by Olivia Henry when a large tree crashed down on the camp killing the three women and injuring the others.

The injured persons were taken to Kamarang Hospital for treatment while the dead are at the Jawalla Health Post, awaiting arrangements for post-mortem examinations.
