63-Y-0 Fatally Stabbed in Kingston

August 21 2025
Police are investigating the alleged murder of 63-year-old security guard Paul Devonish, who was fatally stabbed on Monday evening, August 18, 2025, while on Barrack Street, Kingston.
The incident reportedly stemmed from a confrontation earlier that day between Devonish and two of his Sheriff Security colleagues. Investigators said around 1:00 p.m., Devonish visited Teleperformance, where he allegedly hurled abusive language at a female guard and took away her cellphone. An 18-year-old security guard on duty attempted to intervene, but Devonish reportedly slapped him twice before leaving.
The teen later recounted the matter to his mother, also a Sheriff Security guard, and to her colleague, 29-year-old Nicosie Clement, who was on duty at the time. Later that evening, Clement accompanied the teen to collect his lunch bag near his workplace. As they walked along Barrack Street, Devonish reportedly confronted them and made further threats.
A scuffle then broke out between Clement and Devonish, during which Clement allegedly pulled a knife from her pants pocket and stabbed Devonish in the left thigh. The injured man collapsed on the roadway and began bleeding heavily. Emergency Medical Technicians transported him to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police said the suspect left the scene, disposed of the weapon in the Lamaha canal, and later went to the teen’s home. She was subsequently arrested and, during a video-recorded interview, confessed to stabbing Devonish.
The body of the deceased bore a single stab wound. Several witnesses have since been questioned, and statements were taken as the investigation continues.
