Security Guard on $175,000 Bail for Discharging Firearm

Devon Boucher, a 25-year-old security guard of Mahaica, East Coast Demerara, has been charged with discharging a loaded firearm with intent.

Boucher was arrested on September 12, 2025, by a Detective Sergeant from Cove and John Police Station and brought before the Mahaicony Magistrate’s Court today, September 16. The charge alleges that he discharged a firearm at Andrew Smith, also known as “Cats,” on September 8 at Hand-en-Veldt, Mahaica.

The accused pleaded not guilty when the charge was read by Magistrate Allan Wilson. He was granted bail in the sum of $175,000, and the case was adjourned to October 31, 2025, for continuation.
