Police have charged 24-year-old Ameer “Pickachu” Bacchus, a mason from Good Hope, East Coast Demerara, in connection with a violent robbery committed earlier this year.

Bacchus was arrested on August 10, 2025, and formally charged the following day with Robbery with Violence.

The charge stems from an incident on April 1, 2025, in which 56-year-old carpenter Ravendra Persaud of Mon Repos was allegedly robbed at the Martyrs’ Ville Squatting Area, Mon Repos, ECD.

Bacchus appeared before Magistrate Abigail Gibbs at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court, where he pleaded not guilty. Bail was denied, and he was remanded to prison.

The case has been adjourned to September 17, 2025, for report and statements.
