Persons with disabilities to receive $50,000 cash grant

December 3 2025
All persons living with disabilities in Guyana will receive a one-off $50,000 cash grant before the end of this month, President Dr. Irfaan Ali announced today while addressing a Christmas luncheon held in observance of International Day for Persons with Disabilities, noting that he has instructed that the payout be completed within the month.
The initiative will provide an estimated $41.4 billion in direct support to more than 27,000 vulnerable citizens and forms part of the government’s push to build a more inclusive society.
President Ali emphasised that the administration’s broader mission is to ensure that persons with disabilities can fully participate in national life, pursue opportunities and contribute to Guyana’s development.
The $50,000 grant is the latest in a series of disability-support measures rolled out in recent years. In 2022, government introduced a $100,000 one-off grant for children with permanent disabilities, followed by a $35,000 cash grant in late 2024 for all registered persons with disabilities.
Officials say the newest payout strengthens the administration’s ongoing efforts to ensure that no citizen is left behind.
