Guyana has been selected to host the Caribbean Tourism Organization’s (CTO) State of the Tourism Industry Conference (SOTIC) from October 5–9, marking a historic first for the country and a major milestone for its tourism sector.
SOTIC is the region’s premier tourism forum, bringing together policymakers, industry leaders, investors, and stakeholders from across the Caribbean to discuss trends, challenges, and opportunities in tourism development.
Guyana’s selection as host reflects growing regional confidence in the country’s expanding influence and leadership within the Caribbean tourism landscape.
The event is expected to boost Guyana’s international visibility, stimulate economic activity, and strengthen partnerships across the region.
It also highlights the country’s rising profile as an emerging tourism destination, driven by its eco-tourism offerings, cultural heritage, and ongoing investment in the sector.
Tourism Minister Susan Rodrigues, during her budget presentation, stated that hosting SOTIC will provide an important platform to showcase Guyana’s tourism potential while contributing to broader regional collaboration and sustainable tourism growth.
