Over 500 Berbicians advance toward homeownership

February 15, 2026 — The Ministry of Housing and Water, through the Central Housing and Planning Authority (CH&PA), has surpassed its target during a two-day (February 13-14) housing drive held at the Classic Hotel and Suites in Corriverton, Region Six, marking a major milestone for hundreds of families.
A total of 520 families received their Agreements of Sale and began the process of securing their Certificates of Title, a critical step toward full legal ownership.
The initiative exceeded the Ministry’s initial target of assisting 450 allottees from the No. 75 (Block 2) and No. 76 (Blocks 3 and 4) Housing Developments.
In addition, 241 Berbicians were allocated house lots at the Moleson Creek Housing Scheme, bringing them closer to realizing homeownership and long-term housing security.
The outreach was led by Minister of Housing and Water, Collin Croal, Minister within the Ministry Vanessa Benn, and CH&PA Chief Executive Officer Martin Pertab, who engaged residents on-site and addressed concerns throughout the process.
To streamline access to homeownership, the Ministry also coordinated support services from banking institutions, insurance providers, and the Guyana Water Incorporated, enabling beneficiaries to receive guidance and complete key steps in one location.
Officials say the successful drive underscores the government’s commitment to accelerating land titling and expanding access to housing across Region Six and beyond.
