A quantity of suspected cannabis was discovered on Sunday evening at the Charity Waterfront on the Essequibo Coast.
The find was made around 18:15 hrs during a patrol in the area, where a 29-year-old vendor from Charity Backstreet drew attention after reportedly behaving suspiciously.
A search led to the discovery of a transparent plastic bag containing 25 small zip-lock packets filled with leaves, seeds, and stems suspected to be cannabis, concealed in the front of his pants.
In addition, a sum of $240,000 in Guyanese currency, believed to be linked to the sale of the substance, was found on him.
The suspected cannabis was later weighed and amounted to 36.2 grams. Both the substance and the cash were taken into custody as the matter remains under investigation.
