A quantity of ammunition was discovered during an operation carried out on Monday afternoon at Second Avenue, Bartica, resulting in the detention of one man.

According to a police report, the discovery was made around 15:20 hrs after ranks acting on information visited a location in the area, where a male was observed behaving suspiciously.

He was approached and searched, during which several suspected 12-gauge cartridges were seen in his possession.

Further checks of the individual and a haversack he was carrying led to the discovery of two additional boxes of cartridges, bringing the total to nineteen.

The 37-year-old Bartica resident was subsequently taken into custody, and the cartridges were seized and lodged.

He remains in custody as investigations continue.
