Police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at about 18:00 hrs on James Street, Albouystown, which claimed the life of 28-year-old labourer Kevon Ridley, also known as “Author.”

Preliminary investigations revealed that an unidentified male discharged several rounds in the area, fatally wounding Ridley. He sustained multiple gunshot injuries and was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, where he was pronounced dead.

Two other individuals were also injured in the incident. A 30-year-old male vendor of Albouystown sustained a gunshot wound to his back and is currently receiving treatment at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation.

A 43-year-old spray painter of Lust-en-Rust, West Bank Demerara, was shot in the shoulder and is being treated at a private medical facility. Both victims are reported to be in stable condition.

No arrests have been made so far, and police say investigations are ongoing as they work to determine the full circumstances surrounding the shooting. Further updates are expected as the probe continues.
