Murdered: 12 Y-O Amanda Smith

The 17-year-old uncle of Amanda Smith is scheduled to appear in court tomorrow to face charges for her murder.

The office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) made the recommendation a few hours ago.

Police say that the accused claimed that  Smith died from injuries she sustained after he ‘tripped’ her, he claimed she , struck her head against a wall.

But an autopsy revealed that the 12-year-old had suffered extensive injuries that did not occur as the suspect claimed. She died from brain hemorrhage, which was caused by blunt trauma to the head and face, compounded by compression injuries to the neck.

Amanda’s 14-year-old brother found her body on April 22, in their parents’  Aishalton, South Rupununi backyard.

He allegedly saw the 17-year-old uncle fleeing the scene.

The juvenile accused is believed to have sneaked into the family’s home and attacked Amanda when her brother went to use an outdoor washroom and left the back door open.
