Kirwyn Mars remembered…

The sudden passing of entertainer and comedian Kirwyn Mars, popularly called “Sir Mars” has shocked the nation, but his students and colleagues who would have spent most of their time under his influence has still not come to terms with what happened to their beloved mentor.
The Big Smith News Watch visited the New Central High School, where up to the time of his death, Mars was the Deputy Headteacher, everyone seemed to be in a state of shock and grief.
Headteacher Miss Kamlawattie Balroop explained that the news of Mars’s demise seems unreal, as the entire school is still trying to understand the circumstances that could have led to his death. She noted that faculty members are all emotional at this time.
She added that her deputy will be remembered for his dedication, as he often worked beyond the call of duty to get tasks completed, as he was a proactive and devoted educator.
Balroop said that staff members are all still grieving.
Student and Godson, of Mars, Brandon Waddell, was emotional as he spoke of his late godfather, he remarked that Mars was a good person and they shared many good times together, he took a special interest in Waddell’s education and interests.
Waddell described Mars as a father figure in his life.
Meanwhile, Mars’s colleague and friend, Roderick Gordon related that they had shared 30 years of friendship as he was also taught by the late educator, during this time they forged a friendship which has been maintained to this day.
Gordon noted that Mars was fun loving and always pleasant but was also a “stickler for discipline”, adding that he last spoke with the deceased at his office last Thursday and he was in good spirits.
Gordon says he hopes that the perpetrator found and brought to justice soon.
The Ministry of Education, in a statement noted that, Mr. Mars made significant contributions to the Education Sector and the Arts and he will be greatly missed.
