September 26 2025
A 41-year-old construction worker from Cummings Lodge, Greater Georgetown was recently charged with stealing premium offset paper from Kaieteur News.
The accused, Quacy Browne, called ‘Nose’, appeared before Magistrate Fabayo Azore at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court and pleaded not guilty.
It is alleged that on September 21, 2025, at the newspaper’s Saffon Street, Charlestown, Georgetown premises, Browne stole 20 reels of premium offset paper valued at $280,000.
The items belong to the newspaper’s publisher Glen Lall.
The prosecutor told the court that Browne had been employed at Kaieteur News for 27 years before leaving the job in July.
The stolen items were reportedly returned the same day, and the prosecutor raised no objection to bail.
Magistrate Azore granted bail in the sum of $75,000.
The matter was adjourned until November 5.
