A security guard is now under guard at the Georgetown Public Hospital while police are combing an East Coast Demerara community for a woman they believe he shot twice.

Hospitalized is Stephon Hope, a security guard of Haslington, East Coast Demerara.

Police sources have confirmed that Hope reportedly abducted Ashanti Liverpool at gun point, sometime around 01:00hrs on Tuesday morning from a location in Dazzel Housing Scheme, East Coast Demerara.

At the hospital, he is nursing a gunshot wound to his chest which he told police is self-inflicted. The police were told by Hope that Ashanti Liverpool attempted to escape from him after he abducted her and he shot behind her twice as she ran into a yard.

The police are now combing the area to locate the young woman.
