Charged in absentia for murder: Marcus Bisram

Guyanese Marcus Bisram who is wanted by local police in connection with a murder 2016 for which he was charged in absentia has been released from a detention center in Brooklyn, United States and handed over to Guyanese authorities.

BIG Smith Crime Watch has been informed that Bisram is being prepared to travel to Guyana where he will be processed at the Criminal Investigation Department upon his arrival before being placed before the courts. The arrival of Bisram is taking place just days after the family of the late 26 Faiyaz Narinedatt would have observed his third death anniversary on November 01, 2016

Bisram who hold dual citizenship for Guyana and the United States became a person of interest to the police after they began investigating the death o Narinedatt, a father of two, back in 2016.

Deceased Faiyaz Narinedatt

His body was found around 03:30hrs on Tuesday November 01, 2016 on the Number 70 Public Road, East Corentyne, Berbice, his death was initially reported as being related to a suspected hit and run accident.

An extradition from Guyana to the United States of Bisram for him to returned here and face charges related to murder, was granted by a US court but saw Bisram appealing the decision and lost.

His release from the detention center which would see his arrival in Guyana, hinged on the latest court ruling which pointed out that the United States and United Kingdom signed an extradition treaty back in 1931, a treaty that is still in effect here in Guyana even after our independence in 1966 from being a British colony.

The case surrounding the death of Faiyaz Narinedatt has been an eventful one with several person being charged and placed before the court including the mother of Bisram and another individual for alleged bribery.

So far, five men have been committed to stand trial in the high court for the murder of Narinedatt following evidence which was brought against them in the Magistrate’s court.

Bisram through his lawyers have been denying his involvement in Faiyaz Narinedatt’s death who police said was ordered killed by Bisram after he, Bisram made sexual advancements to the young man but was turned down.

With Bisram’s extradition to Guyana which was ordered in September, it would be the first in recent times that the United States made use of the provision and ability to extradite persons to Guyana. Guyana extradited Troy Thomas to the United States earlier this year, Troy a Guyanese was wanted in the US for murder which he committed several years ago.
