MISSING: Police Special Constable Erica Crawford

31 year old Police Special Constable Erica Crawford has been reported missing by her mother who said that relatives have not heard from her since mid-May and are worried about her safety.

The young policewoman’s disappearance came days before she was slated to leave the country along with colleagues for a force assigned engagement in the United States of America, a trip she never made as her passport with the visa to fly to the United States is still with the force.

Contacted today, Crime Chief, Deputy Commissioner Lyndon Alves confirmed that he is in receipt of information that a rank by the name of Crawford has not been reporting for duty. He said that the force is not at this time treating the matter as that of a missing person but rather as a rank not showing up for duty.

Speaking with a sister of the policewoman, BIG Smith Crime Watch was told that contact was last made with the policewoman sometime around may 23, 2019 when she indicated that she would be submitting a sick leave as she had fell and injured her back. We were also told that the police rank did sound excited about traveling to the United States and even mentioned this to her sister.

However after the sick leave was expired, she young policewoman did not show up for work and relatives were only made aware of this when they received a call this week indicating that the force is unable to make contact with Crawford. A police from the Criminal Investigation Department registry reportedly telephoned family members to inquire when last they heard from the young lady but they could only account for the communication with her some three weeks ago. Crime Chief Alves confirmed that the rank was indeed slated to leave the country on an assignment.

The sister said that they were then informed by the police that the young lady has not been showing up for work. At that point, the relatives began making calls to other relatives and even the mobile phone of the now missing cop but those calls have all gone unanswered.

BIG Smith Crime Watch was told that Special Constable Crawford has no children but does have a boyfriend, relatives reportedly made contact with him and he indicated that he is in the interior and knows nothing about the whereabouts of the woman who at the time she was last seen, resided in Mocha, East bank Demerara.

The family said that the development is unusual as the rank would usually be in constant contact with relatives, her sister related that during one their last conversations her now missing sister indicated that “If mommy ask for me tell her that I am ok and let her not worry’

“She said we not got hear back from she again when I spoke with her couple weeks back but I int tek she on because she never say if anything bothering her or so. She is not a child that does talk about things” one relatives related.

Anyone with information into the whereabouts of the officer can make contact with relatives of 694-8473  678 9684 the nearest police station of with BIG Smith Crime Watch on 600-9747.
