Non-Payment to Doolichand; GPF ask for HP ink, pastor supplied ‘imitation’

A contentious prayer at the opening ceremony of the Guyana Police Force’s (GPF) 2021 Conference last Thursday has led to the Pastor’s revocation of his status as the Force’s Chaplain.

Patrick Doolichand in his opening prayer last week stopped short of naming officers perceived to be dividing or hampering the performance of the Force.

Addressing the issue of race, division, harmony, self-serving behaviour and a host of other areas, the Reverend said the Force is haemorrhaging and in a bad place.

He was on Wednesday made aware of the decision which was taken by the Executive Leadership Team of the GPF.

In the letter seen by this publication, the Force cited the conduct of the Pastor during his prayer which was first reported on by this publication.

“Moreover, your conduct during the prayer segment of the ANNUAL officers’ Conference, 2021 precipitated his excellency, Ministers of Government and other distinguished guests to express utter disgust at such repugnant, fallacious and inappropriate utterances at this dignified and professional activity.” the letter to Reverend stated.

The Guyana Police Force is of the view that the prayer which was broadcasted has wrongfully and deliberately portrayed the law enforcement body in a negative light.

Further, he was also cited for alleged financial crimes.

“Consequent to Major Crimes Unit, Criminal Investigation Department Headquarters investigating you for alleged financial crimes, appointment at caption is hereby affected.” the letter stated.

This publication was told that the Force Chaplain was among thousands of Guyanese who invested in the Accelerate Capital Firm Inc (ACFI) –a company which is under investigation for money laundering after its owners were charged for collecting millions of dollars from unsuspecting persons to invest in forex.

The BIG Smith NewdsWatch understands that the Reverend invested a large sum of money but has since managed to recover the amount from the firm.

Reverend Doolichand is expected to return all property belonging to the Force by March 22, 2021 and is only allowed to enter police premises on official civilian business.

The Executive Leadership Team stated that it has taken a decision to distant itself from Doolichand.

The letter was copied to Home Affairs Minister Robeson Benn, Permanent Secretary Mae Thomas, Top Cop Nigel Hoppie, DC Operations Clifton Hicken and Crime Chief Wendel Blanhum. It was signed by Assistant Commissioner- Administration Calvin Brutus.

The new Force Chaplain will be Former Assistant Commissioner of Police Eric Bassant
