A family of five was this morning displaced following a fire at Bagotstown, East Bank Demerara this morning.

The fire according to persons in the community, started around 10:00hrs. Firefighters are still at the location conducting their mopping up exercise.

When we visited the location, we observed that persons believed to be associated with the occupants of the house, standing next to household items which they were able to salvage from the burning building.

Media operatives were told that the occupants of the home were inside when they heard a spark coming from the ceiling and shortly after, fire was noticed the ceiling came crashing down.

Persons could be heard commending the response and performance of the Firefighters in saving the other nearby buildings from also going up in flames.

We were told that two couples along with a child live in one section of the building.
