Police have confirmed that 27-year-old Elizabeth Dass and 25-year-old Nicholas Low-A-Chee whose bodies were discovered in their Sarah Johanna, East Bank Demerara (EBD) home on Tuesday, were both shot to the head.

Preliminary enquiries have revealed that Dass’ body bore a suspected gunshot injury above her right eye and another to her abdomen, while the body of Low-A-Chee bore a single gunshot wound just above his left ear. It appears that the bullet exited the man’s right side temple.

No damages or suspected forced entry seen on the building they lived in.

According to neighbours both Elizabeth Dass and Nicholas Low-A-Chee were last seen alive on Sunday at about 10:00 hrs.

Their bodies were discovered on Tuesday at about 07:30hrs by relative who was contacted after a man known to the couple visited the yard and received no answer.

The relative called out to the couple and after no response, he proceeded further into the house, in the direction of his bedroom and it was at this point he started getting a foul scent. He then pushed open the bedroom door and stumbled upon the motionless bodies of the couple, in pools of blood on the bed and floor respectively. There was also a black handgun, about two feet east of Low-A-Chee’s body.

The relative immediately raised an alarm, after which he reported his discovery to the Timehri Police Station via cell phone.

Three suspected .32 spent shells were found in the bedroom, one on the bed, one on the floor and the other about six feet west of the man’s body. A .32 pistol was found two feet east of his left hand.

The suspected firearm was examined/processed for fingerprints but none was detected, police said.

A further search within the premises unearthed a quantity of suspected cannabis which was later weighed and amounted to 370 grams.

The bodies were uplifted by undertakers of the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home and escorted to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre where they were formally pronounced dead.

The hands and body of both persons were processed for gunshot residue, also blood samples from Low-A-Chee were taken along with what was found in the bedroom for DNA testing. The bodies were then taken to the Memorial Gardens Mortuary where they were placed into cold storage, awaiting a post mortem at a later date.

Several persons in the area were questioned but no useful information was obtained, police said. Investigations are in progress.
