Minister Vickram Bharrat Advocates Environmental Responsibility at World Press Freedom Day Event


Minister of Natural Resources, Vickram Bharrat, represented President Dr. Irfaan Ali and Vice President Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo as he delivered a keynote address at a significant event commemorating World Press Freedom Day – the National Climate Forum. Hosted at the Atlantic Conference Centre, Pegasus, the gathering marked the 31st anniversary of the UN’s World Press Freedom Day under the theme “A Press for the Planet: Journalism in the face of Environmental Crisis.”
In his address, Minister Bharrat reiterated Guyana’s steadfast commitment to tackling climate change and environmental issues.
He emphasized the nation’s strategy of harnessing natural resources while safeguarding the environment, transitioning towards renewable energy sources, and executing the national strategic plan, with a particular focus on the Low Carbon Development Strategy 2030.
