Mason Sentenced Three Years for Gun, Ammo Possession

July 8 2025 — A 23-year-old mason from the East Bank of Demerara is now in police custody after being arrested earlier today (Tuesday) on two outstanding commitment warrants related to firearm and ammunition charges.
Leon Moore, whose addresses are listed as Lot 1092 Phase 2 Farm Housing Scheme and Lot 165 Titus Street, Agricola, was apprehended by a female police rank. The warrants were executed in connection with his conviction earlier this year.
Moore was sentenced in absentia on February 12, 2025, by Magistrate Dylon Bess at the Diamond Magistrate’s Court.

He received two years’ imprisonment for possession of a firearm without a licence and one year for possession of ammunition without a licence — sentences to run consecutively, totalling three years.
The defendant is currently being held at the Ruimveldt Police Station and is expected to be escorted to the Lusignan Prison to begin serving his sentence.
