Man detained after fatally stabbing his attacker

Dead: Shurlon Errol Cutting 

43 Year old Shurlon Errol Cutting is now dead while 28 year old Selwyn Rollins is in police custody after they were involved in a fight at the Parika Stelling on Thursday evening.

According to information coming out of the police Public Relations Department, Cutting who is employed as a sailor with the Transport and Harbours Department approached Rollins who functions as a labourer around the stelling and asked him to leave the premises. An argument ensued and Cutting armed himself with a wood and assaulted Rollins who whipped out a scissors and stabbed him.Cutting is said to be a resident of 2529 Layou Street, North Ruimveldt while Rollins was identified as a resident of 76 Ithaca Village, West Bank Berbice.

After Cutting received the stab wound, he was picked and rushed to the Lenora Cottage Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries while Rollins who was also taken to the said health facility was treated for injuries to his abdomen and knees then handed over to the police.

The investigations into the matter are ongoing.
