The man who is accused of fatally stabbing a young father of two was today charged with murder and remanded to prison. 23-year-old Ewert Calistro appeared before Principal Magistrate Judy Latchman at the Diamond Magistrates Courts.

He was not required to plead to the indictable charge which stated that between April 4, 2021, and April 5, 2021, at Swan, Kuru Kururu, Soesdyke/Linden Highway, he murdered 23-year-old Roy Ross, a labourer.

According to reports, Ross’ lifeless body which bored multiple stab wounds was discovered in his living room sometime after 06:00 hrs by his neighbour. It was reported that he was last seen alive sometime around midnight on April 4 by his girlfriend.

The following morning, around 06:00 hrs, a neighbour observed that the door to the man’s hope was open and decided to investigate. Upon approaching the house, he saw Ross lying in a pool of blood with a stab wound to the chest. An alarm was raised and the police were called in.

Following an investigation, Calistro was arrested and charged with the offense. He will make their next court appearance on May 11, 2021.
