Lodge Man Remanded for Stabbing 9-Year-Old with Scissors

Joshua Austin, a 23-year-old mechanic from Lodge Housing Scheme, Georgetown, has been remanded to prison after being charged with unlawfully and maliciously wounding a nine-year-old boy in Charlestown.
The incident occurred on September 12, 2024, along Broad Street in Charlestown, Georgetown.
According to the prosecutor, the child was walking with his mother when Austin allegedly attacked him with a pair of scissors, stabbing the boy multiple times.
The young boy was quickly rushed to the hospital, where he received treatment and was later discharged. He was not present in court during the proceedings.
Austin, who appeared before Senior Magistrate Fabayo Azore at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts on Monday, was not required to enter a plea to the indictable charge.
Austin, who has a young daughter, was unrepresented by legal counsel and was denied bail. He was remanded to prison until his next court appearance, scheduled for September 30, 2024.
