The Virgin Islands seized the 2025 FIBA Women’s Caribbean Championship crown with absolute dominance, sweeping through the tournament undefeated with a flawless 4-0 record before delivering a crushing 105-81 final statement against The Bahamas at Cliff Anderson Sports Hall last evening, November 17.
The ISV commanding victory caped off a championship run of such overwhelming superiority that they never relinquished control, dominating every quarter en route to cementing their status as the undisputed queens of Caribbean women’s basketball. With their authoritative title-clinching performance, the Virgin Islands announced themselves as a force of nature, advancing directly to next year’s CentroBasket as the Caribbean’s most dominant regional qualifier.
The ISV unleashed a suffocating two-way masterclass that absolutely dismantled Bahamian resistance, controlling the glass with a staggering 56-31 rebounding advantage while shooting a blistering 50.7% from the field in a clinic of offensive efficiency and interior dominance.
Anisha George delivered an absolutely monstrous performance in the paint with a towering 26-point, 21-rebound double-double on near-perfect 10-of-13 shooting, single-handedly dismantling The Bahamas’ interior defense with her relentless assault at the rim. Captain Imani Tate orchestrated the offensive symphony with a complete 22-point, six-rebound, six-assist performance, while J-Naya Ephraim added another 17 points and six assists as the ISV balanced offensive firepower proved utterly unstoppable.
The Virgin Islands’ suffocating defensive pressure forced 14 turnovers that fueled devastating transition buckets, systematically dismantling any Bahamian comeback hopes from the opening tip.
Despite heroic individual efforts from Bahamian stars Lashann Higgs, who exploded for an extraordinary 37 points, and Valerie Nesbitt, who poured in a valiant 32 points, The Bahamas simply could not overcome the ISV’s relentless team excellence and championship-calibre execution on both ends of the floor.
The Virgin Islands’ unbeaten championship run represents an emphatic reaffirmation of their status as the Caribbean’s premier women’s basketball programme, capturing the regional crown with the kind of comprehensive dominance that left no doubt whatsoever about their superiority in this tournament. With their perfect 4-0 tournament record and overwhelming championship victory, the ISV have fundamentally proven themselves as the undisputed region’s elite force heading into next year’s CentroBasket Championship.
