Edward Layne appointed Director of DPI

Edward Layne appointed Director of DPI 

Edward Layne 

Journalist Edward Layne who up to recently served as Coordinator for the Department of Public Information (DPI) has been appointed as the agency’s acting Director.

Layne’s appointment was communicated to the staff of the agency two weeks ago through an electronic circular. The circular also stated that the appointment was with immediate effect.

The circular which was sent on July 14 was addressed to all staff at the Department of Public Information.

BIG Smith News Watch on Sunday reached out to Director Layne for a comment on the matter. Layne would confirm that he was appointed acting Director for the Department of Public Information.

Edward Layne was appointed coordinator of DPI back in 2020 after the general and regional elections which brought the Peoples Progressive Party Civic to government.

Prior to 2015, Layne worked at the National Communications Network as a Senior Editor. He was fired from his job back in June 2015 under the A Partnership for National Unity Government.

Layne a former policeman and teacher is the holder of a Master’s in Human Resources Management.

The Department of Public Information falls under the purview of Minister of Public Affairs Kwame McCoy.
