September 25, 2025 — Minister of Education, Sonia Parag, this morning met with a delegation from the World Bank Group to discuss ongoing collaborations and explore new opportunities for strengthening Guyana’s education system. The meeting was held at the Ministry’s Lot 26 Brickdam boardroom.

Minister Parag was joined by Permanent Secretary Ms. Shannielle Hoosein-Outar, Chief Education Officer Mr. Saddam Hussain, Chief Planning Officer Ms. Misckha White Griffith, and Adviser on Tertiary Education Reform Dr. Kofi Dalrymple.

The World Bank delegation included Ms. Diletta Doretti, Resident Representative for Guyana and Suriname; Ms. Lauren Marston, Senior Education Specialist; Mr. Hubert Forrester, Operations Officer; and Mr. Angel Bhojedat, Country Program Assistant.

Talks centered on projects currently underway and new areas of collaboration. Key priorities identified were the integration of artificial intelligence in education, the digitization of learning, the expansion of infrastructure, and reforms in tertiary education.

Minister Parag emphasized that these initiatives are fully aligned with President Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali’s vision of advancing Guyana’s digital transformation agenda, ensuring that the education sector keeps pace with the country’s rapid development.
