A seven-year-old child was killed and his bedridden grandmother injured during a suspected home invasion at Zeelugt New Housing Scheme, East Bank Essequibo, on Friday morning.

The identities of the victims have not yet been released.

According to information reaching BIG Smith News Watch, the child was at home with his grandmother, who is reportedly recovering from a stroke and is largely confined to bed.

Relatives said the young boy would often remain by her side and help care for her.

Reports indicate that armed intruders entered the house, and it is believed the child raised an alarm after seeing them. He was subsequently attacked, while his grandmother sustained injuries and was rushed to the hospital for medical treatment.

At the time of the incident, the child and his grandmother were reportedly the only occupants of the home.
