Demerara Mutual signaled their support for the Courts Optical Pee-Wee under-11 football tournament on Tuesday afternoon during a team briefing at the National Library.

Sales and Marketing Coordinator of Demerara Mutual, Oceola Van Doimen shared some encouragement to the kids that will be participating in the tournament.

“To the 39 participating teams we encourage you to go out there and have fun, make new friends, enjoy every moment on the field, remembering that you are always just by being here representing your school. We look forward to seeing these young athletes showcase their skills while bringing our communities together,” Van Doimen stated.

Chain Manager of Courts Optical, Richard Simpson expressed his enthusiasm for the tournament and urged sponsorship participation on match days.

“A lot of times as sponsors we give the money, but nobody knows who we are and one thing that we are trying to do is, we are trying to be apart of the event. Thank you, guys (teachers and coaches), for the continuous support. I don’t know how the teachers and coaches do it because as I tell you before I have a three-year old and every day I sing the song, lord prepare me. So, I don’t know how you guys (teacher and coachers) do it with all these children, so I take my hat off to you guys and give you guys a round of applause for the work you guys have done,” Simpson expressed.

Meanwhile, Co-director of the Petra Organisation, Troy Mendonca tipped his hat to the teachers for their continued involvement and support of the tournament that has been in existence for 12 years.

“It’s unfair for me to just accept those applause without sharing this with the through soldiers of what we do and I want to say this compliment must be extended to you the teachers and head teachers from these schools because without you there is no we and I think I said that the last time we were here,” Mendonca noted.

Sponsors and members of the Petra Organisation pose with teachers and students after the official team briefing of the Courts Optical Pee-Wee tournament.

The Courts Optical Pee-Wee Tournament kicks off on Saturday, September 27 with Round-robin action at the Ministry of Education ground from 10:00hrs.
