Court delays sentencing for “ISWE Boss”

The sentencing of Shaquawn Alleyne, known as “ISWE” or “ISWE Boss,” for the murder of his girlfriend, Shonette Dover, has been deferred to June 18, 2026, before Justice Sandil Kissoon in the High Court.

Alleyne, a former barber from Linden, pleaded guilty on June 2 to the killing of 20-year-old Dover, bringing an end to a case that remained unresolved for five years.

Court documents state that between April 3 and April 30, 2021, Alleyne fatally shot Dover and buried her body behind his home at Canvas City, Linden.

Following her disappearance, he reportedly participated in search efforts for the young woman, whose decomposed remains were discovered 28 days later.

After the body was found, Alleyne fled to neighbouring Suriname, where he remained for approximately three years before being arrested and deported to Guyana to face the murder charge.

When the matter is called on June 18, the court is expected to consider several reports before imposing sentence, including a report of conduct from the Guyana Prison Service, a probation report detailing Alleyne’s background and circumstances, a psychiatric evaluation, statements outlining aggravating factors, and victim impact statements.

Justice Kissoon is expected to hand down sentence after reviewing the submissions.
