President Dr. Irfaan Ali and Vice President Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo today met with Cabinet members, soon-to-be-appointed Regional Executive Officers, Permanent Secretaries, Accounting Officers from all regions, and officials of the National Procurement and Tender Administration Board to reinforce the Government’s unwavering commitment to accountability, transparency, fiscal prudence, and improved service delivery across all levels of Government administration.

The meeting, held at the Office of the President, focused on strengthening governance systems and ensuring that public resources are managed responsibly and in the best interest of the people of Guyana.

President Ali emphasised that public office carries a sacred trust and reminded officials that every dollar spent must contribute meaningfully to national development and the welfare of citizens.

He stressed that all procurement systems, including regional tender boards, must function with full transparency and strict adherence to the law.

The President further underscored the Government’s intention to utilise technological advancements, including artificial intelligence, to enhance oversight of procurement systems, improve operational efficiency, and identify irregularities or unethical practices.

He warned that breaches of financial and procurement procedures, including improper involvement with multiple companies, will attract severe consequences, including removal from office where necessary.

Vice President Jagdeo reiterated the importance of responsible spending and accountability, noting that all Government expenditures must be measured against their impact on the lives of citizens and the country’s overall development.

The Government remains committed to strengthening oversight mechanisms, eliminating waste, and ensuring accountability, efficiency, and transparency throughout the public sector.

(Office of the President)
