Councillor Don Singh dies following illness

Guyana is mourning the passing of veteran politician and sports administrator Don Singh, who died after being hospitalized in recent days following an alleged stroke.
Singh was a longstanding member of the PPP/C and served as a Councillor on the Georgetown Mayor and City Council, where he was involved in municipal affairs and community development initiatives.
Earlier this year, in January 2026, Singh was elected President of the historic Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC), taking the helm of one of Guyana’s oldest and most prestigious sporting institutions.
Known for his contributions to local government and the cricketing fraternity, Singh’s death has been met with sadness by colleagues, friends and members of the wider community.
