Convicted killer “Short Boss” gets another life sentence

Travis Evans, popularly known as “Short Boss,” was given a life sentence for the 2018 murder of 46-year-old legal clerk Gregory “Wayne” Frank, who was found dead in his home.
When the 29-year-old man went before Judge Jo Ann Barlow on Tuesday at the High Court in Demerara, she handed down the sentence, dictating that he must serve 25 years in prison before he is eligible for release on parole.
Evans, formerly of Sophia, Greater Georgetown admitted that between July 31 and August 2, 2018, he murdered Frank in the course or furtherance of a robbery.
At Tuesday’s sentencing hearing, Evans was represented by Attorney-at-Law Teriq Mohammed while State Counsel Praneta Seeraj presented the case for the prosecution.
Frank was discovered lying face down on August 3, 2018, at his Kuru Kururu, Linden-Soesdyke Highway home.
His cause of death was given as asphyxiation due to compression injuries to the neck compounded by blunt trauma to the head.
Back in April 2021, Evans was sentenced to life by Justice Sandil Kissoon before whom he appeared on a manslaughter charge over the unlawful killing of Ronsley Clarke, 21, of Fire Station Road, Timehri, East Bank Demerara (EBD).
Based on reports, Clarke, a mason, was at a party on August 2, 2018, at “C” Field Sophia, Greater Georgetown, when Evans walked up to him and shot him thrice. Reports are that Clarke and Evans were involved in a disagreement the day before he was killed.
He only becomes eligible for parole after serving a minimum of 25 years behind bars.
Back in 2020, Evans was sentenced to three years’ imprisonment after pleading guilty to a robbery under-arms charge. The charge stated that on October 30, 2010, Evans, while in the company of two other men and armed with a knife, he robbed a woman of $650,000 in cash.
He is presently awaiting trial for allegedly raping the same woman on the said day.
