A Sophia resident, 25-year-old Linden Benjamin, has pleaded guilty to the murder of his girlfriend, 31-year-old Lisa Lucille George, who was brutally stabbed 25 times during a violent attack in April 2023.

Benjamin, who is represented by attorney Beulah Williams, appeared before Justice Priscilla Chandra-Hanif at the High Court in Demerara recently, and admitted to the capital offence.

He will be sentenced on October 27.

During the court proceedings, the prosecution revealed that George’s teenage son awoke to his mother’s cries of “I gone dead, I gone dead,” and witnessed Benjamin stabbing her with two knives.

The attack occurred on April 26, 2023, at George’s Lot 604 ‘C’ Field, Sophia, Greater Georgetown home.

Relatives rushed to George’s aid but arrived too late. She succumbed to her injuries at the scene.

A post-mortem examination found that George sustained 25 stab wounds, one of which pierced her chest cavity and severed her aorta, leading to fatal blood loss.

Benjamin was arrested at the scene shortly after the attack and later charged with murder.

The couple were together for about seven months.
