Cocaine bust in Richmondville House Scheme gated community

A 36-pound cocaine bust has been made in the Richmondville House Scheme gated community at Providence, East Bank Demerara, with the suspected narcotics reportedly concealed inside frozen fish.
According to Police, the discovery was made on Sunday, September 27, 2026, during an operation in the community.
A vehicle driven by a 44-year-old miner was intercepted, and the man was reportedly the sole occupant.
Two bags containing frozen fish were found in the trunk of the vehicle.
Further examination reportedly uncovered 15 parcels containing a white powdery substance suspected to be cocaine concealed inside the fish.
The suspected cocaine was subsequently weighed and amounted to 36 pounds. The 44-year-old driver was taken into custody as investigations continue into the major narcotics find in the gated community.
