
In connection with the fatal accident that occurred on April 15, on Water Street, Georgetown, where pedestrian Doreen Haynes was tragically crushed by an unregistered lorry, Its driver Michael Hopkinson has been slapped with multiple charges.
On June 28, Hopkinson appeared before Her Worship Shivannie Lallram at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court. He faces multiple charges, including: Operating an unregistered motor vehicle, Operating an uncertified motor vehicle, Operating an unlicensed motor vehicle, Operating an uninsured motor vehicle.
A relative appeared on behalf of Hopkinson, who is scheduled to return to court on July 12, 2024, to answer these charges.
Additionally, Damion Welch, the driver of Motor Lorry GAB 3272, which was haphazardly parked at the time of the incident, also appeared before Her Worship Lallram.
Welch has been charged with the offense of obstruction and has pleaded not guilty.
