National Track and Field Centre, Leonora where the CARIFTA cs the rest will be held.

In a recent interview with Big Smith News Watch, Mark Scott, the head coach of the 2026 Junior CARIFTA team, emphasized the rigorous training regimen leading up to the CARIFTA Games this Easter Weekend.

“We have about eight coaches from Guyana and we have four from overseas that is working along with the team.

More so on the more technical part where with the relays with the 4×1 especially and they are looking at like block starts, you know like how athletes are coming out of the blocks and those kind of things.”

Scott also shared insights on the upcoming mini-competition, referring to it as “CARIFTA versus the rest.”

“Saturday we have a mini competition to see really CARIFTA versus the rest, the CARIFTA team versus the rest that will be done on Saturday but just the events that are being done at CARIFTA we’re doing,” he mentioned.

The team is set to leave Guyana on April 2nd for the competition in Grenada over the Easter Weekend.
