Brazil, Guyana eye stronger bilateral cooperation

Minister of Agriculture Zulfikar Mustapha on Tuesday met with a high-level Brazilian delegation to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation between Guyana and Brazil in key areas including agriculture, trade, and investment.
The delegation was led by Director of the Department of Mercosur, Ambassador Francisco Cannabrava, and included Secretary of Economic and Financial Affairs, Ambassador Philip Gough, along with Brazilian Ambassador to Guyana, Ambassador Maria Cristina de Castro Martins.
During the meeting, discussions centered on expanding collaboration between the two countries and exploring opportunities for increased trade and investment, particularly within the agricultural sector.
Minister Mustapha highlighted the longstanding partnership between Guyana and Brazil, noting that both countries have worked closely over the years through a number of agricultural initiatives and technical cooperation programmes.
He said continued collaboration would further support agricultural development, strengthen food security, and contribute to economic growth in both countries.
