Body recovered following ASL aircraft crash

April 13, 2026 — The body of the pilot involved in the crash of an Air Services Limited (ASL) Cessna 208 aircraft has been recovered.
The Rescue Coordination Centre (RCC) confirmed that members of the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) Special Forces successfully reached the crash site of the aircraft, bearing registration number 8R-YAC, and retrieved the pilot’s remains. Preparations are currently underway to extract the body from the area.
Authorities from the Ministry of Public Utilities and Aviation, the Guyana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), and the Guyana Defence Force have extended condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased pilot, joining the wider aviation community in mourning the loss.
Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash are ongoing.
