Bethany Village Farmers Receive Support from NAREI

November 26 2024- Farmers in Bethany Village, Region Two, recently benefited from a significant boost to their agricultural efforts as the National Agriculture Research and Extension Institute (NAREI) distributed planting materials and other agricultural inputs. This initiative followed a promise made by Minister of Agriculture, Zulfikar Mustapha, during a visit to the community in September.
During his visit, Minister Mustapha, on behalf of President Dr. Irfaan Ali, presented the village with a new extra-long boom excavator to aid in farming activities. He also pledged additional support in the form of seeds, seedlings, and other agricultural resources to enhance production.
Fulfilling this commitment, NAREI officers distributed approximately 2,500 seedlings to farmers.
The variety of plants included passion fruit, lemon, orange, lime, tangerine, coconut, soursop, rambutan, cherry, sorrel, carambola, papaya, turmeric, and peanut. The provision of these materials is expected to significantly contribute to the diversification and productivity of agriculture in the community.
This initiative is part of ongoing efforts by the government to strengthen agricultural development in rural areas, ensuring farmers have the tools and resources necessary to succeed.
