Minister of Agriculture Zulfikar Mustapha met with fishermen from the Ogle fishing community on Tuesday morning to discuss challenges within the industry and reaffirm the government’s continued commitment to supporting the sector.

The meeting, held at the Minister’s office, focused on issues raised by the fishermen and ongoing efforts by the government to strengthen Guyana’s fisheries industry—a key contributor to food security, employment, and economic development.

Minister Mustapha highlighted a series of initiatives currently underway to boost the sector, including upgrades to landing sites, enhanced maritime security, and increased technical support for fisherfolk across the country.
