“Star” charged with possession of illegal firearm, ammo

Deodnauth Lall, also known as “Star,” a 23-year-old businessman of Airy Hall Village on the Essequibo Coast, has been charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition without a licence.

 

Lall was arrested on January 9, 2026, following the discovery of a firearm and ammunition at 105 KM Buckhall Road, Essequibo River. He was subsequently charged with Possession of a Firearm without Licence and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition without Licence.

 

The accused appeared today, Monday, January 12, 2026, at the Bartica Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Teriq Mohamed, where the charges were read to him. He pleaded not guilty to both charges and was remanded to prison.

 

The case has been adjourned to February 6, 2026.
