Aunty Mavis Bartrum Romalho is 100 years old today

FULL OF LIFE AT 100, THE BIRTHDAY GIRL

Born on September 23, 1922, to Celestine Sauers and Rowe Romalho, Mavis Bartrum Romalho was the eldest of five children, two girls, and three boys.

Aunty Mavis was born in Tacama, Upper Demerara-Berbice, Region 10, and moved from that village in 1956 to Kwakwani, also in Region 10 where she lives to this day. She was married to Alfred Bartrum and the couple had fourteen children, seven boys, and seven girls.

Ms. Romalho loves cooking and in her early days, she would cook up a storm whenever the family has functions and events. She also loves gardening and sewing.

To mark her 100th Birth Anniversary today, Ms. Romalho and her family will have a walk for her in the community this afternoon to signify the milestone.

On Saturday however, Aunty Mavis will be surrounded by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren as a massive celebration is planned for her in Kwakwani.

Aunty Mavis has 69 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, and 25 great-great-grandchildren.
