Accident victim identified as Secondary School teacher

A secondary school teacher has died following a road accident early this morning along the Diamond Bypass Road, East Bank Demerara.
The deceased has been identified as Tineka Hicks, also known as “Precious,” a mother of two and teacher attached to Dolphin Secondary School.
In a statement, the school expressed deep sorrow over her passing, extending condolences to her family, friends, colleagues and students.
“The Management and Staff of Dolphin Secondary School extend our deepest and most heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones of our dear colleague, Tineka Hicks, who tragically lost her life in an accident this morning.
We are deeply saddened by this sudden loss. Tineka was a valued member of our school family whose presence, dedication, and contributions will be greatly missed by students, staff, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
During this difficult time, our thoughts and prayers are with her family and loved ones. May they find strength, comfort, and peace in the cherished memories they shared with her,” the statement said.

An earlier report indicated that a woman had died and several others were injured after a minibus overturned along the Eccles Bypass Road, East Bank Demerara. However, the latest update confirms the fatal accident occurred on the Diamond Bypass Road and involved the teacher, whose identity has now been confirmed.
