Gold miner remanded on firearm and ammunition charges

A 33-year-old gold miner has been remanded to prison after being charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.

 

Mark Gentle of Durban Street, Lodge, Georgetown, appeared on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, before Magistrate Caressa Henry at the Bartica Magistrate’s Court.

 

Gentle was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition without a licence, contrary to Section 16(2)(a) of the Firearms Act, Chapter 16:05.

 

He pleaded not guilty to both charges.

 

Gentle was remanded to prison until November 17, 2026, when he is expected to return to court.
