Fire destroys house at Lusignan

A building and its contents were completely destroyed by fire at Lot 11 Massacre Street, Track A, Lusignan, East Coast Demerara.
The Guyana Fire Service said firefighters arrived to find the building fully engulfed in flames, with the blaze threatening a nearby structure.
Water Tenders #125, #131 and #123 from the Mahaica, Campbellville and Melanie Fire Stations responded to the emergency.
Firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control and prevent it from spreading further. However, the building and everything inside were destroyed.
The western wall of the neighbouring building was also severely damaged.
Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.
