The progress of several major electricity infrastructure projects was reviewed during a meeting between Guyana Power and Light Inc. (GPL), Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contractors and independent engineering stakeholders.

The engagement focused on the status of ongoing works, implementation timelines, upcoming milestones and challenges affecting project delivery.

According to a statement from GPL, participants also discussed outstanding issues and concerns associated with the projects, with emphasis on improving coordination, maintaining momentum and ensuring works are completed efficiently and within the required timelines.

The meeting forms part of ongoing efforts to monitor GPL’s infrastructure development programme and ensure that major projects deliver their intended benefits.

The projects are aimed at improving the reliability and resilience of Guyana’s electricity grid, strengthening operational efficiency and expanding the country’s capacity to meet growing energy demand.

Minister of Public Utilities and Aviation Deodat Indar attended the engagement alongside a GPL delegation led by Executive Management Team Leader Kesh Nandlall.
